Prof. Kwansah-Aidoo made this pronouncement during the institute’s 60th Anniversary launch at a colorful event held at the forecourt of the school’s premises
According to him, the proposed international Digital Media Hub is expected to enable West Africa’s premier specialized Communication University to produce excellent individuals in the communication sector.
He explains that all is set for the Ghana Institute of Journalism to establish a global standard programme that matches the best programmes in journalism and communication education worldwide.
The 60th Anniversary celebration aims to connect alumni, students, Corporate Ghana, and numerous friends and supporters of G.I.J.
Speaking on the theme, “Celebrating Our Past, Inspiring Our Future”, Council Chairman, Professor Kwasi Ansu-kyeremeh made a passionate appeal to journalists to focus on reporting issues related to people within the country stressing that communication plays an important role in the development of a country so all ethical standards must be duly followed.
Minister for Business Development, Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Awal Mohammed, also urged students to aim at fighting corruption to improve the economy and impact lives in society.
The Ghana Institute of Journalism was established on 16th October 1959 by the first President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to help produce journalists in playing crucial roles in emancipating Africa from colonialism.
